Our Pricing + Complete Guide to UK Website Pricing in 2025
One of the things we find incredibly frustrating is when you’re trying to research something important for your business, and you just can’t seem to get an indication of price.
But how much does a website actually cost? The fact is this information is not always readily available but it is important.
We know there’s a big difference between paying £5,000 for a website and paying £50,000 and when you just want to plan properly, understanding what different investment levels get you is key.
We know that every website project is different and requirements vary but it’s also entirely possible to give some guidance on what things actually cost.
Transparency saves everyone time – yours and ours. That’s why we’ve included our actual pricing on this page, alongside the industry context to help you understand what different investment levels get you.

The Website Pricing Landscape: What You'll Find Out There
Before diving into specifics, it helps to understand how the industry approaches pricing – because the range in pricing can be a bit baffling.
The reality is that pricing doesn’t neatly correlate with business size. You’ll find freelancers charging £500 and others charging £15,000. Some large agencies offer template solutions for £2,000 while specialist boutiques charge £50,000+.
What matters more than who’s building it is the approach they’re taking:
Template and Platform Solutions: £0 – £3,000 Quick setup using existing themes on platforms like Squarespace, Wix, or WordPress. Fast and cheap, but limited customisation. You’re mostly paying for platform setup and basic configuration.
Custom Design Without Strategy: £2,000 – £15,000 Bespoke design work that looks professional but often jumps straight into aesthetics without strategic foundation. The wide range reflects different skill levels and local market rates.
Strategic + Custom Approach: £5,000 – £30,000 Combines strategic messaging work with custom design and development. Pricing varies based on depth of strategy work, number of pages, and technical complexity.
Enterprise and Complex Builds: £25,000+ Large-scale projects requiring extensive custom development, complex integrations, multiple stakeholder management, or months of work.
The frustrating reality? A £5,000 strategically-built website can deliver better business results than a £50,000 website that’s all aesthetics and no substance.
Price alone tells you very little about the value you’ll actually receive.
What Actually Drives Website Costs
Beyond the overall approach, several specific factors determine where projects land within those ranges:
Strategy and Planning: Many providers either skip strategy entirely or treat it as a brief questionnaire. Real strategic work goes much deeper – understanding where your website fits within your sales process, crafting messaging based on the specific problems you solve and who you solve them for, and positioning you clearly in your market.
At Frog Marketing, we spend significant time in this phase because it’s the foundation everything else builds on. A website built without this strategic clarity might look professional, but it won’t effectively guide visitors toward becoming customers.
Design Approach – Template customisation versus custom design: There are many platforms offering generic layouts, which designers can populate for you. These will be generally less expensive than custom designs created specifically for your customer journey but conversion results will likely be less.
However there is one scenario where this might not be true. If it is a budgetary choice between getting strategic messaging or custom design, strategic messaging (as long as there is flexibility in the template to apply it) will win out.
Technical Complexity: A simple brochure site costs less than an e-commerce store. Add membership areas, booking systems, or integrations with your existing software, and development time increases accordingly.
Content Creation: Who’s creating the words, images, and other content? Professional copywriting and photography cost more than using what you already have, but the impact on conversions is significant.
At Frog Marketing we add an additional step to our website packages combining design with strategic messaging to produce your content to maximise conversions. This is included within our pricing.
Ongoing Considerations: Some quotes include ongoing maintenance, security, and support. Others don’t. Make sure you’re comparing like with like when evaluating options.

Understanding the StoryBrand Approach
Being StoryBrand Certified, our approach to website design isn’t just about making websites look good – it’s about making them work. We want your site to look good but we also want it to convert visitors to customers. To do this your website needs to have a comprehensive strategy behind it linked to what you do, who you do it for and your position in the market.

What StoryBrand Actually Means: StoryBrand is a framework for clarifying your message and positioning your business in a way that resonates with customers. It’s based on the storytelling principles that humans naturally respond to.
When applied to web design, it means every element serves a purpose: guiding visitors toward understanding what you offer, how it helps them, how they can get it and why they should act now.
This Framework is proven to get results having worked for thousands of businesses across the globe.
The Investment Difference: Working with a StoryBrand Certified Guide typically costs more than working with someone who focuses purely on design. You’re paying for strategic thinking as well as implementation.
Is the StoryBrand Approach Right for Every Business? Honestly, not always. If you’re testing a new business idea with minimal budget, a simple template might make more sense initially.
But if your website plays a crucial role in how customers find and choose you, having a strategic framework becomes much more valuable than just having something that looks professional.
Other Website Ownership Costs
You’ll find a wide range of prices out there and can be hard to distinguish between value levels. Hopefully what we have covered so far has given you an indication of what you might need.
Frog Pricing We will typically be more expensive than designers who focus purely on aesthetics, but that doesn’t automatically make us the most expensive option overall.
Price doesn’t necessarily dictate value when it comes to websites.
You might find agencies charging tens of thousands for websites that look stunning but don’t actually convert visitors into customers. You’ll also find four figure websites that generate serious business results because they’re built on solid strategic foundations.
Our Philosophy We believe your website should work as hard as you do. Beautiful design matters for credibility and first impressions. But if visitors aren’t taking action – requesting quotes, booking calls, or buying from you – then something fundamental isn’t working.
What Our Pricing Reflects: Our prices reflect both strategic StoryBrand messaging work and professional design and development. We’re not competing on being the cheapest – we’re focused on delivering websites that actually contribute to business growth.
All our projects start with discovery and messaging strategy before we write a single line of code or create any designs. This foundation work is what makes the difference between a website that just exists and one that actively helps your business.
Ongoing Considerations: Some quotes include ongoing maintenance, security, and support. Others don’t. Make sure you’re comparing like with like when evaluating options.
Our prices
All our projects start with a Discovery & Messaging Strategy Session to clarify your positioning and message before we write a single line of code. From there, we offer three main approaches depending on your needs and internal resources.

Other Website Ownership Costs
Beyond the initial build, websites have ongoing costs that many businesses don’t factor into their planning. These can include:
Maintenance and Security: WordPress sites need regular updates, security monitoring, and occasional fixes. Budget £100-300 monthly for professional maintenance (our packages include your first year of technical maintenance). If you are using a different platform these costs are generally less but custom development will likely be more.
Hosting: Quality hosting with good performance and support typically costs £20-100 monthly, depending on your site’s requirements.
Content Updates: Will you handle content updates yourself, or do you need ongoing copywriting and design support? Our sites are all very easy to edit yourself but many of our customers prefer to leave it to us.
Marketing: A website built to convert can only do so if it is getting traffic. Depending on the age of your business and the visitor numbers you already have you may need to factor in SEO, content marketing, or advertising to drive visitors.
Is this the right fit?
If you’re looking purely for the cheapest option, we’re probably not the right fit. But if you want a website that actively contributes to your business growth rather than just existing online, scheduling a call would definitely be the best first step to finding out.
Every one of our projects starts with a free strategy call where we can discuss your specific situation and provide a detailed proposal. This isn’t a sales pitch, it’s just a conversation to see if we are the right fit for each other, because the most expensive website is the one that doesn’t work for your business.
FAQs
Common Questions We Hear
Can I start simple and add features later?
Absolutely. Many businesses start with foundational messaging and design, then add greater functionality, lead magnets or sales funnels as their needs grow. Building with future expansion in mind can make this more cost-effective.
What if I'm not happy with the result?
We work closely with clients throughout the process to ensure we’re on track. Major revisions are included in our process, and we don’t consider a project complete until you’re genuinely happy with the result.
You’re a long way from me. Can we still work together?
Yes! So much business is conducted remotely these days. We can use Google Meet, Zoom or Microsoft Teams, whatever works.
And if we need a more involved strategy day or team session we are very happy to travel.
Our initial onboarding meetings often take place in person and we are happy to travel to you or host you at either of our locations in Wallingford or Cornwall. We also have access to some lovely offices across the UK so it’s easy to find a destination that works.
